Best tips to keep yourself motivated

Today we will talk about HOW to get through lockdown using positive thinking.

Look, it’s not easy all the things that we are going through. It’s scary to see how the whole world has been impacted in so many ways because of this virus. Keeping motivated and positive can be a real challenge. In this post, we’re going to talk about what to do to remind ourselves how good it is to be alive right here, and right now.

I spoke with different friends and colleagues in different countries, and the struggle is the same: “when are going to get back to our “normal slash free” lives?”, “are we going to be in lockdown again if the number(s) keep rising?”, or “I hope my loved ones don’t catch it”.

Maybe, this is the new normal, and the reality is we don’t know. What we know is that we’re here, struggling and trying to get our normal lives back. The thing is, we can’t let ourselves down with all these feelings for too long, because it can and will take control of our mental health.

Of course, some of us are coping well, some of us are not. So, let’s get to the point of this post.

The question is, what can I do to keep myself motivated? There are few things that I would like to share with you.

1.     STAY healthy.

·      Exercise! Go out for an outdoor walk, change the scenery for at least 30 minutes a day.

Tip 1: Try to walk a bit quicker than usual

Tip 2: If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous choose type of exercise and stick with it

Tip 3: Start twice a week and increase after 2 weeks to 3 times a week

·      Drink water. It will help you to stay hydrated

Tip 1: Water and fibre will help your digestive system to work well. Have a look here on some of the top high fibre foods.

Tip 2: The recommendation is 2.7L/women and 3.7L/man. Try to avoid soft drinks and artificial juices

·      Include fruits and vegetables in your routine.

Tip: a way to ease into it is making juices, including veggies/fruits on salads, roasting your veggies. Hummm, veggie muffins are delicious too. (Include some muffins recipes here).

2.     Organise your week (or get yourself organised)

  • ● Use your phone calendar or DIY weekly calendar. Organise it by morning, afternoon, and night. Add what you would like to get done in each category, then when you complete your task, put your √. It’s important to visualise. Tasks can be anything that you want to complete e.g., send a message to mom, walk 30 min, hair treatment etc.
  • ● Potter around. Organise your wardrobe, your garage or whatever you feel like. Maybe do some gardening, buy a plant.

3.     Connect with your inner self

  • ● Meditate, pray, or even close your eyes for 5 minutes

Tip: “Inside timer” app. It offers (It’s got) a lot of meditations and timer for your practice. Start small but start it today

4.     Grounding”, the famous vitamin “G”. Bare your feet on the soil, grass, ocean, or dirt – anywhere for 10 min, it’s natural electrical state. It helps you to relax, have a better sleep, and connect to your body and mind

Tip: Do your meditation and grounding at the same time

5.    Read about people who inspire you somehow, or even talk to them if they are close to you. Send them a message. Reflect on why they inspire you and how you can apply their advice to your life

6. Get away from screens

These are the strategies to keep yourself in a good place. Try them if you are already doing some of these positive strategies. Share them here with me.
